Quite often I get asked for recommendations on where to stay on a weekend away so I though I would share one of my favourite country hotels, The Rectory in Crudwell, Wiltshire. A gorgeous small hotel housed in a beautiful Georgian former rectory. This is the cosy sitting room, so inviting and quite grand with those tall windows. Imagine sitting here on a grey autumn day with the fire roaring. Yes please.
The lovely dining room. We really enjoyed the food here but there is also a pub down the road for a more informal dinner option.
The generous hallway. Those old flagstones…
Breakfast is served in the lovely orangery. Note the Bloody Mary station.
Outside there is a lovely walled garden with huge lawns perfect for playing croquet. This water feature is the old baptism pond.
Garden view from the house. There is a swimming pool in the grounds too which is open during summer months.
Picture perfect Wisteria covered exterior.
Our bedroom. I am sure all the rooms are beautiful, we have only stayed in room 6 and it is heaven. Really spacious with a huge four poster bed.
The cute window seat with a view of the baptism pond.
A good nights sleep – highly likely.
Lovely reading corner.
The bathroom is a garden lover’s dream with that amazing floral wallpaper. You never want to leave.
Bath time is a highlight of the day here.
Totally selfie-worthy situation.
Highly recommend this gorgeous place, it is very relaxed but quite indulgent at the same time. The location is great for exploring the Cotswolds with lots of cute villages a short drive away. Good gardens to visit nearby are Abbey House Gardens in Malmesbury, Barnsley House and Cerney House Gardens.
